- The Agentic AI Readiness Gap: Technology Is Moving Faster Than Enterprise Processes
Article
Deloitte's 2026 research on agentic AI highlights a substantial gap between executive expectations and organizational readiness. According to the survey, 74% of leaders expect nearly half of their business processes to be redesigned or rebuilt around AI agents within four years, while only 5% say their current processes are highly prepared for agentic AI.
The study also reports that only 15% of organizations have scaled orchestrated, cross-functional multi-agent adoption. This suggests that the main constraint is shifting from access to AI models toward workflow design, data integration, governance, permissions, accountability and organizational change.
Agentic AI differs from a conventional chatbot because it can plan steps, invoke tools, coordinate with other agents and execute multi-stage tasks. That raises the potential economic value of AI, but it also increases operational and governance complexity.
For technology and infrastructure providers, successful enterprise adoption could materially increase inference demand. However, utilization growth will depend on whether companies can redesign real business processes around agents rather than merely adding AI interfaces to existing software.
